Ask anyone in West Boca for directions and Mission Bay's fountain plaza at the corner of Glades Road and US 441 will come up within two sentences. The community behind it - lakes, tennis courts and a string of subdivisions like Cordova Estates, Sonata and Isla Verde - is textbook West Boca: family households, school calendars and a travel rhythm that runs through Miami International far more often than the map suggests it should.

MIA to Mission Bay is a 49-mile trip, and it is Turnpike territory all the way: 836 west out of the airport, Turnpike north for the long middle stretch, off at Glades Road and straight west past the mall corridor until 441. Fifty-five to sixty-five minutes covers nearly every hour of the week. The Sawgrass Expressway alternative exists for the rare days the Turnpike misbehaves, and your driver knows when to use it. Either way, you watch the ETA on your confirmation link instead of interrogating the front seat.
